REACH Requirements for North American Companies

A one-day workshop to help North American companies navigate the European REACH Regulations

USA March 2012During March 2012, REACHReady, Tetra Tech and H2 Compliance hosted "REACH requirements for North American Companies Exporting to Europe". These practical one-day workshops were designed to help North American companies understand the steps to take in order to put compliant products onto the E.U. Market. Attendees were able to follow either an "Articles Track"  - concentrating on the issues facing exporters of finished goods and components to the EU, or a "Chemicals Track" dealing with the issues of substance registration under REACH for non-EU businesses.

Comments made by attendees after the events include:
"Not your typical learning experience; you also come away with an approach to implementing a solution."

"A thorough overview of the REACH requirements - with excellent handouts for reference later. This was especially helpful for someone new to REACH requirements!"

"Being appointed the REACH contact for a US based company can be intimidating when researching program requirements for the European Union. Tetra Tech, REACHReady, and H2 Compliance have taken on a proactive approach for those of us whom are geographically removed, yet the REACH requirements very much apply to our business, through US based training and support. I recommend the training for all whom REACH applies."

We plan to repeat these workshops later in 2012 and would be happy to hear from you if you would like to register your interest now - contact us.

  • How we can avoid supply chain disruptions due to SVHCs disappearing from the market and answers to:

    • If we are a North American-based company do we REALLY need to survey our suppliers for SVHCs in articles and do we REALLY need to report SVHCs to our customers?
    • If so, should we track only existing SVHCs or do full disclosures of all chemicals?
  • How we should protect confidential information and how we should write these requirements into supplier terms and conditions
  • How to track / manage all this data when the SVHC list changes
  • Some software and database approaches you can take for managing SVHC data
  • What the future holds for SVHCs and The Candidate List in 2012 and 2013

Chemicals

  • What is REACH registration and what subtances it covers
  • The different registration dossier types and their application, costs and timing
  • How to work in SIEFs and Consortia to meet the 2013 deadline
  • What an Only Representative can do
  • An overview of the dossier completion and submission process
  • How REACH affects the structure and content of the EU SDS
  • How the GHS has been implemented in the EU as the EU CLP regulations
  • When substances need to be reclassified for supply
  • What notification to the CLP inventory is all about and how to do it
